Purpose:

In accordance with Title 43, Texas Administrative Code, §25.103, TxDOT will hold a public hearing to receive comments on a proposal received from the City of Paris, TX, to establish a Non-Radioactive Hazardous Materials (NRHM) route in Paris, Texas. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive comments and concerns of all affected persons and entities with regards to the designation of the NRHM. Comments must be received by Wednesday, May 22, 2019, to be part of the official record.

Description:

The route designation would require that all vehicles carrying non-radioactive hazardous materials travel through the City of Paris, TX, via State Loop 286 to their intended point of exit, rather than travel on local streets or state business routes through the center of town.

The primary objective of designating a Non-Radioactive Hazardous Materials route is to minimize the potential for incidents and risk of harm to the public, should a truck/vehicle carrying hazardous materials be involved in an incident and the material be released. The designation of a Non-Radioactive Hazardous Materials Route will not remove or prohibit all truck/vehicles carrying hazardous materials from Lamar County roadways.

Special Accommodations:

TxDOT makes every reasonable effort to accommodate the needs of the public. The public hearing will be in English.
