Notice and Opportunity to Comment on FM 2642 from FM 35 to SH 66 and FM 35 from East of Chestnut Court to Creek Drive

Purpose:

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in conjunction with Hunt County is proposing to reconstruct FM 2642 from FM 35 to SH 66, and FM 35 from east of Chestnut Court to Creek Drive in Hunt County, Texas. Pursuant to Texas Administrative Code, Title 43, §2.104 this notice is affording an opportunity to comment as part of the environmental review process for this project. Comments must be received in writing on or before Wednesday, February 19, 2020, to be a part of the official record.

Description:

The proposed project improvements include reconstruction of FM 2642 in Royse City from FM 35 to SH 66. The existing two and three-lane sections of FM 2642 will be expanded to a four-lane divided concrete roadway with curbs and sidewalks. Project improvements are designed to match into the recently completed IH 30 @ FM 2642 interchange improvements. Additionally, FM 35 is to be reconstructed from east of Chestnut Court to Creek Drive such that the FM 2642 at FM 35 intersection will be reconfigured to a “T” intersection and provide a continuous north/south roadway consistent with Royse City’s Comprehensive Plan. The total length of proposed roadway improvements is 2.9 miles.

Roadway widening improvements will generally occur within the existing right of way that varies between 100 feet and 120 feet wide, with spot-locations of additional right-of-way to be acquired for the purposes of providing right-turn deceleration lanes and drainage outfall improvements. Although additional right of way is required, no residential or nonresidential structures would be displaced.

Memorandum of Understanding:

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 09, 2019, and executed by the FHWA and TxDOT.
