Notice and opportunity to comment
Public comment deadline | All comments must be received on or before Friday, Aug. 9, 2024. |
Purpose | The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Odessa District is proposing improvements to US 285 from RM 652 to 0.1 mile south of the New Mexico state line in Reeves and Culberson counties, Texas. This notice is affording an opportunity to comment as part of the environmental review process for this project. |
Description | The proposed project would include widening approximately 11 miles of US 285 to a four-lane divided highway with two lanes in each direction, as well as both inside and outside shoulders. The existing right-of-way (ROW) width ranges from approximately 150 – 200 feet, while the proposed ROW width would range from approximately 237 – 360 feet. Improvements would include a wide center median and/or barrier with median openings and turn lanes as needed. The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potentially displace no residences and one non-residential structure. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program and services and benefits for those displaced and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction, can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling 432-498-4645. Any environmental documentation or studies, maps and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the proposed project are on file and available for inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Odessa District office 3901 E. Highway 80, Odessa, TX 79761. Project materials are also available online on this webpage. |
