Purpose The TxDOT Lufkin District will be conducting an online virtual public meeting on the proposed project with an in-person option to present the proposed widening of US 259 from SH 204 to Rusk County line in Nacogdoches County, Texas. In-person attendees will be able to view the same presentation delivered in the virtual public meeting, review hard copies of project materials, ask questions, and leave written comments.
Description

The seven-mile-long project would include:

  • Widening US 259 to provide two 12-foot northbound travel lanes and two 12-foot southbound travel lanes, 16-foot continuous two-way left-turn lane, and 10-foot shoulders
  • Expanding the existing right of way by an average of 45 feet
  • Reconfiguring the SH 204 intersection
  • Adding right-turn lanes at FM 2664, FM 1087, and SH 204

The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potentially displace zero residences and one non-residential structure.
