Purpose:

The purpose of the public meeting is to present the proposed project and route locations to the public and receive comments.

Description:

The proposed project would construct a six-lane freeway with ramps and frontage roads from US 84 near Shallowater to US 84 near Slaton. The proposed improvements would require additional right-of-way and would result in commercial and residential displacements within the project limits. Information about the project, including earlier phases and earlier segments of Phase 3 are available on the project page.

Verbal and written comments are requested and will be received at the public meeting.  Written comments may be submitted for a period of 15 calendar days, by March 7, 2018, following the meeting by mail to Shelley Harris, P.E. at 135 Slaton Road, Lubbock, TX 79404-5201, by email to shelley.harris@txdot.gov.

The public meeting will be conducted in English. Persons interested in attending who have special communication needs or needs an interpreter, are encouraged to contact the TxDOT Lubbock District Public Information Office at (806) 748-4472.  Requests should be made at least two days prior to the public meeting.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
