Notice Affording Opportunity for Public Hearing - I-35 East Side Frontage Road

Purpose:

TxDOT is proposing to reconstruct 0.4 miles of existing I-35 eastern frontage road in La Salle County and construct 0.7 miles of new I-35 eastern frontage road that is located in both La Salle and Webb Counties. The proposed limits for this project is from 0.95 miles North of the La Salle / Webb County line to 0.189 miles South of Martinena Road in La Salle and Webb County, Texas.

Description:

The purposed project would include:

  • Two 12-ft. wide travel lanes and two 4-ft. wide shoulders

The purpose of this project is  provide connectivity on the east side of the I-35 corridor in order to alleviate the impacts from oil field traffic within the community of Encinal and to provide improved access to developing petroleum services and drilling sites located southeast of Encinal. All proposed work will take place within the existing I-35 Right-of-Way and this project would not require any additional ROW or easements. 

Any interested citizen may request a public hearing covering the social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed location and design for this project.  Requests for a public hearing must be submitted in writing on or before January 31, 2018, to:

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
