Purpose The purpose of the public hearing is to present the proposed project to the public and receive comments. The project is proposing to construct SH 35 (Spur 5) from I-45 to I-610 in Harris County, Texas. The virtual and in-person hearing will consist of the same narrated presentation by the project team, project exhibits and other information, and an opportunity to comment.

TxDOT is proposing to extend existing Spur 5 and construct a roadway on new location, south of existing Spur 5, as SH 35. The proposed project would consist of a four to ten lane roadway between I-45 and Dixie Drive with an interchange at I-610. Each lane would be a 12-foot lane.

The SH 35/I-610 interchange would consist of an elevated, multi-level interchange between SH 35 and I-610; SH 35 would be elevated over I-610. Four elevated direct connectors, each consisting of one 14-foot lane, would be constructed to permit entrance and exit to SH 35 and I-610.

The project is approximately 3.4 miles in length and would require approximately 14 acres of additional right-of-way.

The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, potentially displace three single-family residences and five non-residential structures. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program and services and benefits for those displaced and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction, may be obtained from the TxDOT District Office by calling 713-802-5056.

The proposed project would involve construction in wetlands. The proposed project would involve an action in a floodplain.
