When:

Thursday, June 27, 2019
Open House: 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Public Hearing: 6:30 p.m.

Purpose:

The purpose of the public hearing is to gather public input on the proposed roadway widening of CR 59 from CR 48 to Kirby Drive in Brazoria County, Texas. Engineering displays and environmental documents will be available for viewing at 5:30 p.m. with the formal hearing starting at 6:30 p.m. Comments must be received on or before Friday, July 12, 2019, to be a part of the official public hearing record.

Description:

The purpose of the hearing is to present the proposed design and to receive public comment. A Public Meeting for the proposed project was previously held where several roadway alternatives and a detention pond were presented.  Based on public comments, a preferred roadway alternative was selected and the detention pond was redesigned. The proposed project includes:

  • Widening the existing roadway from two to four lanes with a raised grassy median, a length of approximately one mile
  • Constructing a shared-use path along the north side of CR 59
  • Adding drainage features that would include a curb-and-gutter system and a detention pond

The proposed improvements would require a total of approximately 17 acres of additional right of way (eight acres for the roadway and nine acres for the detention pond) and would potentially require the displacement of one outbuilding.

Special Accommodations:

The public meeting will be conducted in English. Persons who have special communication or accommodation needs are encouraged to contact TxDOT’s Public Information Offices at (713) 802-5076. Requests should be made at least five working days prior to the public meeting. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate these needs.
