Purpose The Texas Department of Transportation, Houston District, is proposing improvements along Farm-to-Market (FM) 1764 from west of State Highway (SH) 3 to 14th Street in Texas City, Texas. This notice advises the public that the project team will be conducting an on-line virtual public meeting on the proposed project with an in-person open house.
Description

The proposed project would restore approximately 4.8 miles of roadway surface plus new pavement striping throughout the project limits. The SH 146 intersection would be reconstructed and restriped and the continuous outer right-turn lane in both directions from 34th Street to 21st Street would be converted into a through traffic lane. The existing 4-foot-wide sidewalks would be widened to 5–6 feet and new pedestrian push buttons would be added to select traffic signals. Existing curb ramps would be remediated to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, and new curb ramps would be installed where they do not currently exist. The project would also perform repairs under the FM 1764 bridge between 34th Street and 33rd Street.

Approximately 1.33 acres for temporary driveway licenses would be required where the existing sidewalk leaves the existing right-of-way (ROW). No permanent additional ROW is required, and no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and information about the tentative schedule for temporary driveway license acquisition may be obtained by contacting Pedestrian Facility Project Manager, at (512) 416-2749 or by email as shown in the notice.

The proposed project would involve construction in wetlands. The proposed project would involve an action in a floodplain.

Any environmental documentation or studies, maps, and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the proposed project are on file and available for review Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Houston District Office, 7600 Washington Avenue, Houston, Texas 77007.
