Purpose | The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input and provide information about the proposed improvements to I-820 from I-30 to I-35W, SH 199 from Lake Worth to Roberts Cutoff Road, FM 1220/Azle Avenue from SH 199 to Kiowa Avenue/Venera Street and BUS 287/North Main Street from Longhorn Road/East Industrial Avenue to Meacham Boulevard in Tarrant County, Texas. |
Description | The I-820 Northwest Loop Corridor Study aims to improve mobility and enhance safety, multimodal transportation connectivity, operational design, and bike and pedestrian accommodations within three segments of I-820 between I-30 and I-35W. Proposed improvements would include adding main lane capacity, ramping improvements with auxiliary lanes, reconstruction of interchanges and intersections, and continuous one-way frontage roads. The study is comprised of three segments: North, Mid and South. The north segment study limits on I-820 are from Marine Creek Parkway to I-35W and includes the BUS 287/North Main Street interchange from Longhorn Road/East Industrial Avenue to Meacham Boulevard. The I-820 mid segment study limits are from Navajo Trail/Cahoba Drive to Marine Creek Parkway. The mid segment also includes SH 199 from Lake Worth to Roberts Cutoff Road and FM 1220/Azle Avenue from SH 199 to Kiowa Avenue/Venera Street. The south segment study limits follow I-820 from I-30 to Navajo Trail/Cahoba Drive. The total I-820 Northwest Loop Corridor Study limits, including all segments, is 19.4 miles long. TxDOT is conducting a study to evaluate and develop schematic design alternatives. The proposed improvements may, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potentially displace residences and non-residential structures. The proposed project may potentially impact a protected recreation area. TxDOT anticipates making a de minimis determination for this use under Section 4(f) of the Department of Transportation Act of 1966. |
