When:

5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
Purpose:
TxDOT will be hosting an open house for the proposed project, I-10 Culberson County Safety Rest Areas, from 8.5 miles east of Van Horn to Evergreen Road in Culberson County, Texas. The purpose of this public meeting is to provide updated information about the proposed project and gather input from the public. The meeting will be an open house format with no formal presentation so the public may come and go at their convenience, and staff will be available to answer questions. Comments must be received on or before Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018 to be a part of the official meeting record.
Description:
The proposed improvements would consist of two safety rest areas, one north and one south of I-10, including on- and off-ramps on both the north and south sides of I-10 to access the proposed safety rest areas. To accommodate each safety rest area, both parking lots would be constructed to include 28 standard 11 x 20-foot spaces for passenger cars and a minimum of 28 tractor-trailer parking spaces measuring 15 x 80 feet in size. In addition, a pump house, playground, one group picnic arbor, and five single picnic arbors would be built on the grounds of each rest area. The proposed project is anticipated to require up to approximately 82.44 acres of additional right of way, within areas owned by University Lands. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the project manager, at (915) 790- 4237.
Special Accommodations:
TxDOT makes every reasonable effort to accommodate the needs of the public. The open house will be in English. If you have a special communication accommodation or need for an interpreter, a request can be made. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can also be made to accommodate most needs. Please call (915) 790-4200 at least two working days prior to the meeting. Please be aware that advance notice is requested as some accommodations may require time for TxDOT to arrange.
