Purpose:

The purpose of the business open house and public meeting is to gather public input on the Corridor Master Plan for a 9.4-mile section of Horizon Boulevard (FM 1281) from Alameda Avenue (SH 20) to Ascension Street. The meetings will focus on the alternative development and evaluation phase and progress that has been made since the last public meetings in February of 2018. The meetings will be conducted in an open house format. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to do so at their convenience. Displays will be available for review and comment and TxDOT staff will be available to answer questions. No formal presentation will be given.

Description:

TxDOT is gathering public input as part of the process of developing a Corridor Master Plan to identify current and future transportation needs along Horizon Boulevard. The Corridor Master Plan:

  • Has defined existing transportation challenges and opportunities and will evaluate possible solutions
  • Will document and evaluate the community's future vision regarding transportation
  • Will develop a set of recommendations to enhance safety and mobility
  • Will consider drainage implications of potential improvements

A key outcome of this process will be the identification of a set of projects for short-, mid-, and long-term implementation. More information about public involvement and the corridor study, as well as a link to the online engagement tool, may be found on the study page.

Special Accommodations:

TxDOT makes every reasonable effort to accommodate the needs of the public. The open house will be conducted in English; however, if you have a special communication accommodation or need for an interpreter, a request can be made. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can also be made to accommodate most needs. Please call 915-790-4200 at least five working days prior to the meeting. Please be aware that advance notice is requested as some accommodations may require time for TxDOT to arrange.

Memorandum of Understanding:

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
