Notice of Finding of No Significant Impact Available for Public Review - US 80 from I-30 to FM 460

Purpose:

This notice advises the public that the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has issued a finding of no significant impact (FONSI) for the US 80 Project, and that the FONSI is available for public review. The proposed project would consist of the reconstruction and widening of US 80 from IH 30 in Dallas County to FM 460 in Kaufman County, Texas.

Description:

The proposed project would reconstruct and widen approximately 11 miles of US 80 to add an additional mainlane in each direction, for a total of six to eight mainlanes; frontage road reconstruction with two to three travel lanes in each direction between IH 30 and Lawson Road in Dallas County; continuous one-way frontage roads with two travel lanes in each direction between Lawson Road and FM 460 in Kaufman County; and reconstruction of ramps and bridge structures. Proposed frontage road improvements would provide a 14-foot wide shared-use outside lane to accommodate vehicles and bicycles in each direction. A six-foot wide sidewalk is also proposed along the frontage roads and at cross streets where reconstruction is proposed.

The proposed right of way typically ranges from 300 to 458 feet in width and widens up to 730 feet at interchanges with major cross streets and is approximately 2,000 feet wide at the IH 635 interchange. The proposed improvements would require approximately 25 acres of additional ROW and 0.2 acre of permanent easements.

Memorandum of Understanding:

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 9, 2019, and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and TxDOT.
