Description The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Corpus Christi District is initiating an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed Regional Parkway – North Padre Island project from State Highway (SH) 286 on the Corpus Christi mainland to Park Road (PR) 22 on North Padre Island, a length of approximately 13 to 16 miles in Nueces and Kleberg counties, Texas. The proposed project would explore potential route options for a proposed new crossing from the Corpus Christi mainland, across the Laguna Madre, to North Padre Island. TxDOT is trying to address the lack of resiliency in the existing transportation network; limited routes for traffic traveling to/from Corpus Christi and the Islands, especially during emergencies, incidents, and hurricane evacuations; operational and safety issues in the existing SH 358/PR 22 corridor; and seasonal congestion in the SH 358/PR 22 corridor and other major east-west routes, especially during peak-season travel demand.
Purpose The purpose of the virtual public scoping meeting with in-person option is for participants to learn about the process TxDOT follows, view a pre-recorded presentation and supporting project exhibits, review and comment on scoping documents, and ask questions and submit comments.
Accessibility

The virtual public scoping meeting and in-person option will be conducted in English. If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or you have difficulty communicating effectively in English, one will be provided to you.
