Notice Affording Opportunity for Public Hearing - US 77 at FM 485
Purpose:
TxDOT is proposing to improve safety at the intersection of US 77 and FM 485 by replacing the existing at-grade crossing with a grade-separated interchange, from 0.52 miles north of FM 485 to 0.53 miles south of FM 485 in Milam County. This notice advises the public that TxDOT is affording an opportunity for a public hearing on the proposed project. Requests for a public hearing must be submitted in writing on or before Sunday, June 9, 2019.
Description:
The existing US 77 at FM 485 intersection is at grade and is currently a four-way stop. US 77 is a two-lane undivided roadway with 12-foot travel lanes with 10-foot paved shoulders and open ditches. FM 485 is a two-lane rural roadway that has 12-foot travel lanes with three-foot paved shoulders and open ditches. The existing right of way (ROW) on US 77 is between 150-200 feet wide; existing ROW on FM 485 is 100-foot wide.
The proposed project would grade separate US 77 over FM 485 along the existing US 77 alignment. US 77 would have two 12-foot travel lanes with two 10-foot to 12-foot shoulders. There would be four access ramps for the intersection. At the intersection, US 77 would have a 12-foot through lane with a 12-foot turn lane and four- and 6-foot shoulders. On FM 485 there would be two 12-foot travel lanes, one in each direction, with a 12-foot center turn lane and 8-foot shoulders. The proposed ROW on US 77 would be between 386-434 feet wide; proposed ROW width on FM 485 would be 100-foot wide. The proposed work would require approximately seven acres of additional ROW; however, no residential or non-residential structures would be displaced.
Any interested member of the public may request a public hearing covering the social, economic and environmental effects of the proposed location and design for this project. Requests for a public hearing must be submitted in writing to:
