Virtual Public Meeting - SH 6 Central BCS Expansion Project
Where:
This will be a virtual public meeting via a pre-recorded video presentation. There will be no in-person public meeting.
When:
The pre-recorded presentation will be available beginning Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at 3 p.m. and will remain available for comment until Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 11:59 p.m.
Purpose:
TxDOT, in partnership with the Bryan-College Station Metropolitan Planning Organization, is holding a virtual public meeting to share project updates and receive additional public input on proposed improvements to SH 6 from SH 21 to SH 40 in Brazos County, Texas.
Description:
TxDOT is proposing improvements along SH 6 that would enhance safety, relieve congestion, and improve mobility. Proposed improvements include expanding the main lanes from four to six lanes (three in each direction), improving auxiliary lane configurations and adding collector-distributor lanes at selected locations for safer and more efficient merging, improving interchanges for more efficient traffic flow, and providing shared use paths for bicycles and pedestrians.
Proposed improvements and interchange concepts at major intersections were previously presented at the SH 6 Public Meeting held on Dec. 2, 2019. Based on further technical evaluation and public input, TxDOT has refined the project and will present the updated design in this virtual public meeting.
The proposed project would, subject to final design considerations, require additional right-of-way and potential displacements. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program, services and benefits for those displaced, and other affected property owners, as well as information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction, can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling (979) 778-9607.
Special Accommodations:
The virtual public meeting will be conducted in English. If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or you have difficulty communicating, one will be provided to you. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs.
