Purpose:
TxDOT invites citizens to an open house to discuss a project on SH 71 at FM 1209 in Bastrop County, Texas. The meeting will be in an open house format with no formal presentation, so attendees can come and go at their convenience. Maps, drawings, and project information will be on display and project team members will be available to answer questions.
Description:
The Texas Department of Transportation Austin District is proposing roadway improvements to SH 71 at FM 1209 in Bastrop County. The proposed improvements include:
- Constructing new frontage roads
- Adding an overpass on SH 71 over the FM 1209 intersection
- Adding shared-use paths on both sides of SH 71 and FM 1209
- Widening FM 1209
- Adding turnarounds to the intersection of SH 71 and FM 1209
The length of the proposed project is approximately 2.2 miles, would require approximately 40 acres of additional right of way, and is anticipated to displace five residential properties and 25 businesses. Information regarding the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program, benefits and services for those displaced, and information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition can be obtained at the meeting or from the district and/or area office.
