Austin, TX 78748

When:

Open House: 5 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Formal Hearing: 6 p.m.

Purpose:

The purpose of the hearing is to present planned improvements for FM 1626 from Brodie Lane to FM 2304 (Manchaca Road) in Travis County, Texas.

Description:

Improvements would include:
  • Widening from existing two-lane road to a five-lane road with a continuous center left-turn lane
  • Adding 5-foot-wide shoulders
  • Six-foot-wide pedestrian sidewalks would also be constructed throughout the length of the project limits on the north side of the roadway and from Manchaca Baptist Church to FM 2304 (Manchaca Road) on the south side of the highway

The proposed improvements would require approximately 5.3 acres of additional right of way (ROW), 1.6 acres of permanent easements, and 0.1 acre of temporary easements. The proposed project would displace one commercial building; no residential displacements would occur. Additionally, property would be required from a publicly owned recreational area located adjacent to the Menchaca Elementary School. This recreational area is a designated public property subject to Chapter 26 of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Code. Information about the TxDOT Relocation Assistance Program, benefits and services for displacements may be obtained from the TxDOT Austin District Office.
