| Purpose | TxDOT is conducting a schematic and environmental plan for roadway improvements along US 77 from FM 2440 to SH 21, a length of approximately eight miles. The purpose of the project is to improve safety and enhance mobility for the roadway users. |
| Description | The proposed project would widen US 77 from an existing four-lane, undivided highway to a four-lane, divided highway with a grassy median. The improvements include replacing existing bridges at multiple locations, implementing the Reduced Conflict U-Turn (RCUT) at intersections, adding new acceleration and deceleration lanes along the corridor, and constructing a new 10-foot-wide shared-use path on the west side of US 77 from West Independence Street to Giddings High School to accommodate bicyclists and pedestrians. Although additional right of way would be required, no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling 512-832-7000. Any environmental documentation or studies, maps and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules and other information regarding the proposed project are on file and available for inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Bastrop Area Office, 174 SH 21 E., Bastrop, TX, 78602. Project materials are also available on this webpage and will also be available in hard copy form for review at the in-person public meeting. |

If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or you have difficulty communicating effectively in English, one will be provided to you.
