Purpose | The Texas Department of Transportation is proposing to improve US 77 from FM 2440 in Giddings to SH 21 in Lee County, Texas. |
Description | TxDOT is proposing to construct roadway improvements to US 77 from FM 2440 in Giddings to SH 21, a length of approximately eight miles. The proposed project would include widening US 77 from an existing four-lane, undivided highway to a four-lane, divided highway with a grassy median. The purpose of the project is to improve mobility, safety, and operational efficiency. The US 77 existing right-of-way width is typically 100 to 140 feet wide. The US 77 proposed right of way is 140 to 312 feet wide. In consideration of these proposed improvements, TxDOT is reviewing traffic data, local and regional access needs, safety, potential environmental impacts, and is seeking public input. Although additional right of way would be required, no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction can be obtained from the TxDOT Austin District Office by calling 512-832-7018. The proposed project would involve construction in wetlands. The proposed project would involve an action in a floodplain. Any environmental documentation or studies, any maps and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the proposed project are on file and available for inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Bastrop Area Office, 174 SH 21 East, Bastrop, Texas, 78602, 512-321-2195. Project materials are also available online on this webpage. These materials will also be available in hard copy form for review at the in-person option. |
