Public Meeting - US 54 Dalhart Relief Route

Purpose:

The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input on improvements to the current system by providiing a viable alternative for US 54 freight traffic that currently travels through Dalhart, as proposed by a local workgroup. An open house will begin at 6 p.m. and will provide information and display exhibits related to the project. A short presentation by TxDOT personnel will be conducted at 6:30 p.m., and the open house will reconvene after the presentation.

Description:

Proposed improvements include a new four-lane rural divided highway providing two, 12-foot lanes in each direction with a median, ramps, and grade separations at major intersections of highways and railroads. This project would provide improved mobility and accessibility to motorists in the area.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.

Comments must be received on or before Feb. 6, 2018 to be a part of the official meeting record.
