In-person details | Thursday, July 27, 2023 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. CT Amarillo College West Campus-Lecture Hall 6222 SW 9th Avenue Amarillo, TX 79106 TxDOT will hold two open houses for individuals who would like to participate in-person. In-person attendees at either session will be able to see a presentation discussing the proposed project, review exhibits and displays of the proposed project, ask questions of TxDOT staff and/or consultants, and leave written comments. |

Purpose | TxDOT is conducting a second in-person open house with a virtual option to share design updates and additional information resulting from public input received at the previous Open House held for this project on April 27, 2023. This open house will provide an opportunity for additional input from the public on updates to the proposed improvements on Amarillo Boulevard (BI-40) from I-40 approximately one mile west of Helium Road to SL 279 (SW 9th Avenue) in Potter County, Texas. A TxDOT staff member will deliver a presentation at both in-person open house meetings. Questions will be answered by staff during the open house portion of the meeting. A copy of the same presentation along with all displays and exhibits will be available in the virtual open house meeting on the TxDOT.gov website. |
Description | The proposed project would consist of safety improvements to the existing Amarillo Blvd. (BI-40D). This includes modifying existing median crossovers, (reconstruct, remove, and/or relocate), constructing turn lanes, extending limits of safety illumination, constructing median barriers, and constructing continuous sidewalks or shared use paths. Memordum of Understanding | As provided for by 23 CFR 450.212, 23 CFR 450.318, and Appendix A to 23 CFR Part 450, the results or decisions of this Planning and Environmental Linkages Study may be incorporated into or used as part of the review of one or more projects under the National Environmental Policy Act, which would be carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 USC 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 9, 2019, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT. |
