TxDOT will hold two open houses for individuals who would like to participate in-person. In-person attendees at either session will be able to see a presentation discussing the proposed project, review exhibits and displays of the proposed project, ask questions of TxDOT staff and/or consultants, and leave written comments.
Virtual details All materials and exhibits presented at the in-person open houses will be posted on this page on the date and time listed above.
Purpose TxDOT is conducting a second in-person open house with a virtual option to share design updates and additional information resulting from public input received at the previous Open House held for this project on April 27, 2023. This open house will provide an opportunity for additional input from the public on updates to the proposed improvements on Amarillo Boulevard (BI-40) from I-40 approximately one mile west of Helium Road to SL 279 (SW 9th Avenue) in Potter County, Texas.  A TxDOT staff member will deliver a presentation at both in-person open house meetings. Questions will be answered by staff during the open house portion of the meeting. A copy of the same presentation along with all displays and exhibits will be available in the virtual open house meeting on the website.

The proposed project would consist of safety improvements to the existing Amarillo Blvd. (BI-40D). This includes modifying existing median crossovers, (reconstruct, remove, and/or relocate), constructing turn lanes, extending limits of safety illumination, constructing median barriers, and constructing continuous sidewalks or shared use paths.

If you have any general questions regarding the proposed project or the open house meeting with a virtual option, please contact Damen Ratliff, Amarillo District, at 806-356-3299 or by email at Amarillo project input.

If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or have difficulty communicating effectively in English, one will be provided to you. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs.
