TxDOT is developing preliminary plans for the expansion of SH 42 from US 80 in White Oak, south to I-20. The project includes expanding the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided highway with a flush 16-foot median. The expansion will help ease congestion along a corridor that experiences a high percentage of large truck traffic.

TxDOT hosted the first public meeting on Nov. 2, 2017 in an effort to engage the public.
TxDOT has tentatively scheduled the second public meeting for Summer of 2018. The meeting's details will be posted to this website as they become available. Adjacent property owners will also receive notification by mail. All interested citizens will have a chance to provide input, voice concerns and ask questions.
The first public meeting was hosted Nov. 2, 2017, where 3 alternatives were presented to the public for comments and feedback. The alternatives shown at the first public meeting are available below. TxDOT and its consultants are taking the publics comments and concerns from the first public and developing a preferred alternative. The preferred alternative will be presented at the second public meeting for interested parties to provide comments and feedback.
For a project this size, the preliminary engineering development will take approximately two years. TxDOT started work on the project in March 2017.
