Project Overview
TxDOT is developing preliminary plans for the expansion of Interstate Highway 20 in Smith and Gregg Counties. The project limits extend into Van Zandt and Harrison Counties for a short distance to provide logical project end points. The overall project length is 52.5 miles. The project originated with the I-20 East Texas Corridor Study, which was completed in December 2014. Enhancements are aimed at improving safety, averting long-term congestion, as well as preserving the existing highway.
