Purpose:
The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input on the proposed widening of SH 42 from US 80 to I-20 in White Oak. The public can review the designs, ask questions and provide comments. The meeting will be an open house format so citizens may come and go at their convenience, and staff will be available to answer questions.
Description:
Proposed improvements include:
- Widening from a two-lane road to a four-lane roadway with flush median, with curb and gutter to accommodate expected growth in traffic
- Adding a continuous center left-turn lane to provide additional safety
- Redesigning the roadway’s alignment to improve grades and curves to meet current design criteria
- Incorporating sidewalks and/or bicycle lanes where appropriate

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
