Purpose:
TxDOT, as the lead agency, in coordination with the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and the city of Shavano Park, are proposing to improve NW Military Highway (FM 1535) from Loop 1604 to Huebner Road in Bexar County, Texas. The purpose of the hearing is to present the planned improvements and to receive public comment on the proposed project. Displays will be available for viewing at 5:00 p.m., with the formal hearing beginning at 6:00 p.m. Comments must be received on or before July 31, 2019, to be a part of the official hearing record.
Description:
The proposed improvements include adding a continuous two-way left turn lane along NW Military Highway from Loop 1604 to Huebner Road, a distance of approximately two miles. Proposed improvements also include adding sidewalks and bicycle accommodations, adding a traffic signal at the Pond Hill Road intersection and installing raised medians between Loop 1604 and Wagon Trail. No additional right-of-way is required, and no residential or non-residential structures would be displaced. Any environmental documentation or studies, exhibits showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the project are on file and available for inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the TxDOT San Antonio District Office, located at 4615 NW Loop 410, San Antonio, TX 78229. This information will also be available for inspection at the hearing. Verbal and written comments from the public regarding the project are requested and may be presented at the hearing, submitted in person, submitted by mail to the NW Military Highway (FM 1535) Improvement Project at P.O. Box 5459, Austin, Texas 78763.

Memorandum of Understanding:
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by the Federal Highway Administration and TxDOT.
