Purpose:
TxDOT is conducting a corridor feasibility study from I-69C/US 281 to I-69E/US 77 in Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy Counties, Texas.
Description:
The virtual meeting will consist of a virtual meeting room and will include both audio and visual components. The presentation will be posted online Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, at 12 p.m. CT. If you do not have internet access, you may call (512) 829-7133 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, to ask questions and access study materials during the study process.
Additionally, TxDOT is providing two in-person options for individuals who would like to participate in person instead of online. In-person attendees will be able to view the same presentation delivered in the online public meeting which will be playing on a screen, review hard copies of study materials, ask questions to TxDOT staff and/or consultants from a socially distanced approach, and leave written comments. Room capacity may be limited at the in-person meetings. Both meetings will provide the same information.
The goal of the study is to examine existing and new location transportation corridors between I-69C/US 281 and I-69E/US 77 with the objectives being to: alleviate traffic congestion on I-2, provide additional capacity and infrastructure to meet future population growth and travel demand, provide an additional hurricane evacuation route in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, improve mobility, and enhance the overall connectivity of the transportation network in the LRGV.
Environmental documentation, maps and drawings showing the study location, and other information regarding the study are on file and available for inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Pharr District Office, 600 W. I-2, Pharr, TX 78577. To make sure someone is available at the office please schedule an appointment by calling Margil Maldonado, Jr., P.E. at (956) 702-6134. Study materials are also available online and will also be available in hard copy form for review at the in-person option.
Written comments from the public regarding the proposed study are requested and may be submitted by mail to the TxDOT Pharr District Office, 600 W. I-2, Pharr, TX 78577. Written comments may also be submitted by email to Robin Gelston. In addition, comments may be added electronically in the virtual public meeting room. All comments must be postmarked before Friday, Nov. 19, 2021. Responses to comments received will be available online once they have been prepared.
If you have any general questions or concerns regarding the proposed study or the virtual meeting or in-person option, please contact Margil Maldonado, Jr., P.E., TxDOT Project Manager, at (956) 702-6134 or by email.
