Open House - Doniphan Drive (SH 20)

Purpose:

The purpose of the open house is to gather public input on the Corridor Study for a 15-mile section of Doniphan Drive (SH 20) between the Texas/New Mexico state line and Racetrack Drive in El Paso. The public meeting will be conducted in an open house format. Those wishing to attend are encouraged to do so at their convenience. Displays will be available for review and comment and TxDOT staff will be available to answer questions. No formal presentation will be given.

Description:

TxDOT is gathering public input as part of the process of creating a corridor plan that will document the community’s future vision in regard to transportation and development for Doniphan Drive beginning in 2016 through 2040. This meeting is one of two that are part of the third series of public meetings for the corridor study. The same information will be presented at both meetings.

Public Meeting Series #1 focused on introducing the study and gathering feedback on known needs and challenges along the corridor. Public Meeting Series #2 focused on presenting and gathering input on three design alternatives of roadway, multi-modal, drainage, and urban design improvements that address the needs and challenges in the corridor.

During Public Meeting Series #3, TxDOT will present and gather input on the Technically Preferred Alternative and a set of short-, medium-, and long-term improvements. Please be aware that advance notice is requested as some accommodations may require time for TxDOT to arrange.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
