Purpose:
The purpose of the meeting is to present the planned improvements to FM 1171 and to receive public comment on the proposed project. The meeting will be an open house format so the public may come and go at their convenience, and staff will be available to answer questions.
Description:
The proposed project would extend Cross Timbers Road (FM 1171) on new location from I-35W to west of FM 156 through the Town of Northlake and City of Justin, Denton County, Texas. The project would connect at Cross Timbers Road (FM 1171) at the Southbound I-35W Frontage Road. At this time, two alternative alignments are currently under consideration. Each alternative alignment measures approximately 3.5-miles in length and each would require approximately 90 acres of new right of way. The proposed right of way width is typically 200 feet. The proposed roadway would consist of a six-lane divided roadway compromised of urban and rural sections. Bicycle and pedestrian accommodations would be included as part of the proposed project. The design speed for the proposed roadway is 40 miles per hour.

The environmental review, consultation and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
Comments must be received on or before Wednesday, April 4, 2018, to be a part of the official (meeting/open house/hearing) record.
