Dallas-Fort Worth area toll roads
Toll roads in Texas
TEXpress Lanes are designed for motorists seeking a reliable, time-saving trip to their destination. These toll lanes are built within existing highways and offer drivers a choice: use the mainlines at no cost or pay to access the TEXpress Lanes. Most TEXpress Lanes are managed to keep traffic moving 50 miles per hour (mph) or faster. Traffic speeds are maintained through dynamic pricing, where toll rates fluctuate based on congestion levels in the TEXpress Lane.
TxTag, EZ TAG, TollTag, KTAG, PIKEPASS, ExpressToll, and SunPass are accepted on the Dallas-Fort Worth area's TEXpress Lanes and toll roads. Drivers without a toll tag are charged higher rates.
Only TxDOT segments of the TEXpress Lanes are eligible for veteran discounts.
Please keep your toll tag properly installed on your windshield and ensure your account information is current, including your license plate number, so toll charges are correctly applied to your account.

TEXpress Lanes System
The TEXpress Lanes System is designed to provide drivers with a choice, predictable travel speeds, and congestion relief. Currently, more than 100 miles of TEXpress Lanes are open on eight North Texas roadways, forming a connected system across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex that allows drivers to commute across the region with less congestion.
There are two types of TEXpress Lanes: tolled managed lanes and express lanes.
Tolled managed lanes are designed to maintain traffic speeds of at least 50 mph. Speeds are managed through dynamic pricing, meaning toll rates fluctuate based on congestion levels. Registered High-Occupancy Vehicles (HOVs) and motorcycles can receive a 50 percent discount during peak travel periods.
Express lanes are designed to relieve congestion, these lanes are barrier separated from the mainlanes with fewer entrances and exits. Vehicles may use the lanes at zero toll cost.
TxDOT TEXpress Lanes
TxDOT's segments of the TEXpress Lanes System include:
I-30 TEXpress
The I-30 TEXpress lanes operate from Sylvan Avenue in Dallas County to west of Center Street in Tarrant County. The 18.7-mile corridor features concurrent lanes from west of Center Street to west of SH 161, and reversible lanes from west of SH 161 to Sylvan Avenue.
Weekdays, reversible lanes are open 9 p.m. to 11 a.m. eastbound and noon to 8 p.m. westbound. Direction varies on weekends.
I-35 East (I-35E) TEXpress
Opened in May 2017, the I-35E TEXpress Lanes from Denton County to Dallas County span 18 miles, with two reversible lanes from Swisher Road in Corinth to I-635 in Dallas.
Concurrent lanes through the I-635/I-35E interchange. Traffic speeds are maintained through dynamic pricing.
SH 114 TEXpress
The 14.5 mile SH 114 stretches from west of SH 26 in Grapevine to SH 183 in Irving, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
With one or two lanes in each direction, eastbound SH 114 limits begin west of SH 26 to east of International Parkway and SH 161 (PGBT) to SH 183. Westbound SH 114 limits begin from SH 183 to west of SH 26.
SH 183 TEXpress
The SH 183 TEXpress lanes span 13.7 miles, feature at least one lane in each direction and include new direct connect ramps between SH 183 and Loop 12 north. The corridor features a minimum of one lane in each direction from west of Industrial Boulevard in Euless to west of Mockingbird Lane in Dallas.
Loop 12 TEXpress
The Loop 12 TEXpress lanes in Dallas span 2.5 miles between SH 183 and I-35E, featuring one lane in each direction and include new direct connect ramps between Loop 12 and SH 183.
Traffic speeds are maintained through dynamic pricing, meaning price fluctuates based on congestion in the lanes.
I-635 East (LBJ East) TEXpress – Opening late 2026
Scheduled to open in late 2026, the latest addition to the TEXpress Lanes system run along I-635 from US 75 to I-30, and will also include a two-mile stretch of TEXpress lanes along I-30 between Gus Thomasson Road and Galloway Avenue in Mesquite.
These TEXpress lanes located east of US 75 will allow connection for eastbound I-635 TEXpress drivers coming from the tolled lanes west of US 75, managed by LBJ Infrastructure Group (LBJIG).
These lanes are tolled and eligible for both HOV discounts and TxDOT's Veteran Discount Program.
The Southern Gateway TEXpress (I-35E and US 67)
The reversible non-tolled TEXpress lanes on I-35E and US 67 were built with the Southern Gateway Project, operating with managed access points and no occupancy requirement.
These reversible lanes are open in the northbound or southbound direction at prescribed times to allow for additional capacity on the mainlanes for peak traffic flow.
