Trivia
- Reconstructed facility completed and opened in 2001 on existing site - Received Honor Award from the Texas Society of Architects 2002.
- The site's live oak trees, usually held low by the coastal winds, set the tone for the new design with tree-like metal roofing canopy and details best viewed from below.
- The linear facility aligns its length to an existing tree arcade to create a state of undisrupted continuity.
- Kenedy County was named after the local Kenedy family that founded King Ranch in 1847 which was the largest ranch in the area.
