Texas safety rest areas feature many benefits for travelers in Texas.

Our 76 safety rest areas feature 24-hour restrooms. Most locations have attendants on duty 24 hours a day. Other locations have attendants on duty from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

Trivia

  • Located on existing rest area sites. Reconstruction was completed in the year 2000.
  • Situated in perfect alignment across Interstate 10, the design with its colorful murals on the ceilings depicts an imaginary highway bridge projected over the Interstate
  • Recycling and Recycled Products Program Displays.
  • A number of Victoria-era homes are open to the public in the nearby town of Columbus during the Magnolia Homes Tours on the third weekend in May. The Attwater Prairie Chicken National Wildlife Refuge hosts a festival every October.
