Energy Sector Task Force to meet in Cleburne

Task force takes third meeting on the road

AUSTIN -- Taking business on the road, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and its partners are holding next month's Energy Sector Impacts Taskforce meeting and open house in Cleburne.

This is the first time the task force has assembled outside Austin and the first time to include an open house-style public meeting. Scheduling meetings around the state gives task force members an opportunity to interact with Texans most affected by the increase in traffic. And, the open house format provides a forum for gathering public input on key issues such as safety, funding and roadway maintenance.

TxDOT formed the executive-level task force several months ago to study the impact that heavy trucks are having on the state's roadways. The task force is challenged with developing long-term funding strategies and plans to address infrastructure concerns well into the future. The agency is partnering with representatives from the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Railroad Commission, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, counties, and the energy and trucking sectors.

The Energy Sector Impacts Task Force will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. in Cleburne at the Cleburne Conference Center, 1501 West Henderson Street. The open house will begin at 4 p.m. in the lobby of the conference center immediately following the meeting. The public is invited.
