Upcoming traffic switches planned for Corrigan

CORRIGAN, Texas - Three traffic-pattern switches on two U.S. highways will be implemented this week as work on the Corrigan Relief Route progresses.

The first of the shifts will be for northbound traffic on U.S. 59, which will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Temporary lanes were built in what will become the median of BUS 59 when the relief route is completed. The existing righthand lanes will be used with the temporary lanes to maintain two-lane highways for north and southbound traffic.

The second shift will be for the southbound lanes on Wednesday, Aug. 27.With traffic shifted, construction will begin on the relief route in this section of the project.

On US 287, temporary pavement was built on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes. Traffic will move to the new pavement to provide space for the construction of the permanent roadway on the westbound side, near Dipping Vat Lane.

This is the third shift and will take place on Aug. 28.

Overall, the Corrigan Relief Route continues to progress as scheduled with an expected completion date in winter 2028.
