Repairs to begin on four Angelina Co. Bridges
ANGELINA COUNTY - Signs are in place and work is slated to begin this week on the first phase of repairs to four Angelina County bridges.
Denton-based Premier Contractors will begin repairing the concrete, joints and erosion zones on the bridges crossing White Oak Creek on the north and southbound lanes of U.S. 59 in Diboll on Tuesday.
Maintenance operations on these two bridges should be completed by late September.
The contractor will then begin repairs on two bridges crossing railroads on the north and southbound lanes of BUS 69/Kurth Drive in northwestern Lufkin.
The entire project is expected to be completed by mid to late December 2025.
The bridge over White Oak Creek on the northbound side of U.S. 59 was initially built in 1947 and the southbound bridge was initially constructed in 1962. The BUS 69/Kurth Drive north and southbound bridges were built in 1953 and 1968 respectively.
All four bridges are structurally sound, and this maintenance project will ensure they continue to provide safe routes of travel for years to come.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down in these areas and obey all traffic control for their safety and the safety of workers in the area.
