Maintenance planned for 50th Street bridge

Drivers should expect closures and detours

LUBBOCK –Maintenance work is planned for the 50th Street bridge, at I-27, next week. The work will require nighttime lane closures and is a part of a continuing project to make routine repairs and perform maintenance to various bridge structures.

Starting at 8 p.m., on Monday, April 21, crews will close the westbound 50th Street bridge lanes to all traffic. Traffic will be detoured onto the northbound I-27 frontage road, to the 42nd Street bridge, then back south on the frontage road to reconnect with westbound 50th.

Work will move to the eastbound lanes once the westbound lanes have been completed. The lanes will be closed and traffic detoured south onto the frontage road then to the US 84 frontage road bridge and back north on the I-27 frontage road to reconnect with eastbound 50th Street.

The work is expected to take several hours to complete.
