Loop 88 bridge rail installation scheduled
LUBBOCK – Starting Monday, Oct. 20, crews will begin operations to construct the concrete bridge rails on the Loop 88 bridges. Work will begin at the Quaker Avenue bridge and will require Quaker be closed to overnight traffic from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. to allow crews to place the rails for the new bridge. Both north-and southbound traffic will be detoured around the area.
Work continues each night throughout the week with work on the Indiana Avenue bridge taking place on Tuesday, University Avenue bridge on Wednesday and Slide Road bridge on Thursday. All work will take place overnight and traffic detoured around the work zone.
This work is part of a $154.8 million project to convert FM 1585 from a rural, two-lane roadway into Loop 88, a six-lane freeway with frontage roads, bridges, and ramps.
