Business I-27 bridges part of rehabilitation project

Hike and bike trail to be closed to public

PLAINVIEW –A $6.8 million rehabilitation project to replace two bridges on BI-27 in Plainview is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 2. Project contractor is Coppell Construction Company, of Saint Jo, Texas.

Both the north- and southbound bridges on BI-27 at W. 3rd Road will be demolished and rebuilt.

Starting Tuesday, the northbound bridge will be closed to all traffic to give work crews the space needed to prepare the bridge for demolition. Traffic will be detoured to the southbound BU I-27 lanes and traffic in both directions reduce to one-lane.

The hike and bike trail located beneath the bridges will be closed to the public during construction.

Construction of the bridges is scheduled to take 18 months to complete.
