Corpus Christi District Engineer

Mike Walsh, P.E., is the district engineer for TxDOT's Corpus Christi District.

The district comprises 10 counties: Aransas, Bee, Goliad, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kleberg, Live Oak, Nueces, Refugio and San Patricio.

Walsh graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering.  After working briefly in the private sector, he joined TxDOT’s Corpus Christi District in February 2001 as an Engineering Assistant in the Corpus Christi Area Office.  Walsh worked in various position around the district for 12 years including managing a Special Projects Office that oversaw the structural repair of the Harbor Bridge on US 181 and the elevation of John F. Kennedy Causeway on PR 22.

In 2013, Walsh was hired as the Victoria Area Engineer in the Yoakum District, where he oversaw maintenance and construction activities for Victoria, Jackson, and Calhoun Counties.  In 2018, he was hired as Director of Operations for the Yoakum District.  In this role, he was responsible for leading the maintenance and traffic operations programs for the district. In 2022, Walsh returned to the Corpus Christi District as Deputy District Engineer.  In this role, he oversaw traffic operations, construction and maintenance programs that includes the unique challenges that come with a ferry system.
