SH 151 from Loop 1604 to I-410
TxDOT has began improvements to SH 151 between Loop 1604 and I-410 in Bexar County. The SH 151 project is designed to increase mobility, enhance safety, and reduce congestion along the corridor. Improvements include:
- Increase traveling lanes to six lanes
- Add inside shoulders and concrete median barrier
- Improve entrance and exit ramps, intersections, and frontage roads
- Add turnarounds for Military Drive W, Westover Hill Blvd and Wisemen Blvd.
- Direct connector allowing easy access to westbound 1604 northbound
This corridor has experienced an inflex of growth over the last decade. This growth has led to the need for expanding and updating existing infrastructure. Road improvements are needed to enhance safety and mobility, including addressing the increase in traffic along this corridor.
Construction started in May 2023 is estimated to be completed in December 2026.
Traffic and Construction Updates
Throughout construction of these improvements, drive will experience temporary traffic shifts and overnight lane closures. Temporary digital message boards placed along the route will notify drivers in real-time of lane closures, traffic congestion and construction activity. Please follow the posted sings in work zones. We appreciate the traveling public’s patience while making these much-needed improvements.

Public Involvement
The purpose of the open house is to share project information and updates, present proposed schematics of the proposed project and collect input from the community. TxDOT is committed to working closely with the community on this project. All input will be considered as TxDOT moves forward in developing a plan that will enhance the safety of this corridor while preparing for future growth.
