Detour Route for US75/US 82 Frontage roads closure

The US 75 Project is a TxDOT project to develop long-term transportation and operational improvements on US 75 and US 82 in the cities of Sherman and Denison in Grayson County, Texas. TxDOT previously conducted a study to assess safety, maintenance and system efficiency, congestion, and freight reliability, environmental sustainability, transportation choices and economic vitality along US 75, one of the most important transportation links in Grayson County. TxDOT is now moving forward from program level planning to project development to implement specific improvements to US 75.

Purpose

The purpose of the project is to improve safety, address congestion, improve traffic operations, improve drainage, and address roadway deficiencies.

Project description

TxDOT is addressing needed improvements for the US 75 corridor in an Ultimate Project that has potential for phased implementation, in addition to improvements to the US 75 and US 82 interchange. The Ultimate Project would involve reconstruction of US 75 to add main lanes, continuous frontage roads, and U-turns. Ramps, bridges, retaining wall, new storm drain system, and interchanges would be reconstructed as necessary. The proposed improvements to the US 75 and US 82 interchange would involve the addition of frontage road lanes and U-turns at the US 75 and US 82 interchange, as well as intersection improvements at North Travis Street and Loy Lake Road. New overpass will be constructed at South Travis Street to provide east-west direct connection to and from the new Sherman High School.

Public involvement

TxDOT is seeking input on the proposed roadway improvements for US 75. As TxDOT develops the proposed improvements, we are reaching out to communities within the project corridor and interested citizens to get input and comments. All input will be considered as TxDOT moves forward. A public meeting was held at the Sherman Municipal Ballroom at 405 N. Rusk Street on March 22, 2018.
