US 81/287
Avondale-Haslet Road to I-35W
TxDOT is proposing the following improvements to US 81/287 from south of Avondale-Haslet Road to I-35W:
- Add one inside mainlane in each direction
- Construct continuous one-way frontage roads
- Convert existing two-way frontage roads to one-way frontage roads
- Reconstruct existing interchanges
- Reconstruct Willow Springs Road to cross under the US 81/287 mainlanes
- Construct interchange at Heritage Trace Parkway
- Connect Wagley Robertson Road to the proposed frontage roads
- Adjust entrance and exit ramp locations.
Additional right of way will be required to accommodate this proposed seven-mile project. The project is not currently funded for construction. The approximate construction cost is $200 million.

Rhome to Avondale-Haslet Road
TxDOT is proposing the following improvements to US 81/287 from north of Pioneer Road in Rhome to south of Avondale Haslet Road:
- Add and reconstruct frontage roads
- Convert the existing frontage roads to a continuous one-way, two-lane design
- Add left-turn lanes at cross streets
- Provide bicycle and pedestrian accommodations
- Construct interchange at County Road 4840
- Construct interchange at Ramhorn Hill Road
- Construct interchange at future Northstar Parkway
- Construct new direct connectors at SH 114
- Add operational improvements to existing cross streets, mainlanes, ramps, and auxiliary lanes
Additional right of way will be required to accommodate this proposed 10-mile project. The project is not currently funded for construction. The approximate construction cost is $200 million.
