SH 180 (East Lancaster Avenue) from I-35W to I-820

The proposed project would extend along SH 180 for a total of 4.66 miles from Riverside Drive (approximately 0.94 mile east of Interstate 35 [I-35] W) to I-820 in eastern Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. The project would also include work on approximately 0.37 mile of Beach Street and approximately 0.10 mile of Harwood Street. The proposed project would improve vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian mobility and safety along the corridor.

Proposed improvements

The proposed project would include:

  • Adding a continuous shared-use-path (SUP) along both sides of the roadway, the SUP would be outside of the buffer/bus stop area
  • Adding turn lanes at several intersections
  • Replacing the bridges along the corridor
  • Replacing the adjacent retaining walls along the corridor
  • Widening the sidewalks on both sides of Harwood Street to six-feet-wide at the SH 180 underpass, and eight-feet-wide on either side of the underpass

The proposed project would narrow the six travel lanes and the raised median. A buffer area on the outside of the roadway would continue to accommodate bus stops throughout the project corridor.

The proposed project would be constructed entirely within the existing TxDOT right of way (ROW).
