FM 787 at the Trinity River
FM 787 is a two-lane roadway with shoulders providing a direct connection between Romayor and Rayburn in Liberty County, Texas.
FM 787 bridge
The original bridge built in 1976 consisted of six spans varying between 51 feet and 130 feet in length. The bridge crosses the Trinity River at a significant bend where the river is currently migrating. The bridge consisted of seven spans in 2024 resulting from historical repairs.
The bridge was closed due to floods that occurred in May 2024.
TxDOT awarded an emergency repair contract to Ragle Construction, Inc. of North Richland Hills, TX for $11.8 million. Repair work began September 16, 2024. The contractor removed pavement, approach slabs, abutments and two spans on the west end of the bridge. Contractor replaced the removed elements, installed two additional spans and the appropriate safety barriers.
The bridge was opened for public use on March 24th, 2025.
