In-person details

Additionally, the City of San Antonio, in cooperation with TxDOT is providing an in-person open house option for individuals who would like to participate in person instead of online. In-person attendees will be able to view the same presentation and materials delivered in the online public meeting, which will be playing on a screen, review hard copies of project materials, ask questions of City of San Antonio staff, and leave written comments.

The in-person open house option will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, 1321 El Paso St., San Antonio, TX 78207.

Purpose The purpose of the public meeting is to present the proposed project to the public and receive comments. The project is proposing to construct a grade separation at the South Zarzamora Street and Union Pacific Railroad/Frio City Road intersection in Bexar County, Texas. The virtual and in-person open house meeting will consist of the same narrated presentation by the project team, project exhibits and other information, and an opportunity to comment.
Description

The proposed project is needed due to inadequate operational efficiency and reduced safety resulting from the existing configuration of the five-legged, signalized South Zarzamora Street/Frio City Road/Kirk Place intersection, coupled with its proximity to the at-grade South Zarzamora Street/UPRR intersection, resulting in reduced mobility and safety for vehicular traffic and bicyclists and pedestrians. The federal National Environmental Policy Act process requires that the city of San Antonio evaluate various alternatives to improve mobility and safety on South Zarzamora Street. The purpose of the virtual public meeting with in-person open house is to gather public input on the alternatives considered.

The proposed project would, subject to the identification of the preferred alternative, require additional right of way and potentially displace residences and non-residential structures. Relocation assistance is available for displaced persons and businesses. Information about the City’s Relocation Assistance Program, the Uniform Relocation Act, and Real Property Acquisitions Policies Act of 1970, and services and benefits for those displaced and other affected property owners can be obtained from the city of San Antonio’s Public Works Department by calling 210-207-2099.

Accessibility The virtual public meeting and in-person open house will be conducted in English. A Spanish presentation and script will also be available online as part of the virtual public meeting, as well as available in hard copy form for review at the in-person open house. If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or you have difficulty communicating effectively in English, one will be provided to you. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs. If you need interpretation or translation services, or you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend and participate in the virtual public meeting or in-person open house, please contact 210-207-5836 no later than 4 p.m. CT on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. Please be aware that advance notice is required as some services and accommodations may require time for the city to arrange.
