When The virtual public meeting will be posted on this page on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 5 p.m. This will be a virtual public meeting via a pre-recorded video presentation.
Purpose The purpose of this meeting is to discuss roadway corridor concepts that could be applied throughout SH 16 (Bandera Road) from I-410 to Loop 1604. Options for improvements that could help alleviate traffic congestion and improve safety will also be presented and discussed. According to the Texas A&M Transportation Institute's 2020 rankings, this 6.5-mile stretch of road is one of the top 15 most congested roadways in the region. The original comment period deadline of July 14, 2021, has been extended. Comments must now be received or post marked on or before Wednesday, July 21, 2021, to be part of the virtual public meeting record.
Description The goals of the proposed improvements are to improve mobility, safety, and community connectivity while reducing congestion on the SH 16 (Bandera Road) corridor; and to accommodate multimodal transportation including bicyclists and pedestrians.

Memorandum of understanding The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated Dec. 9, 2019, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
