Purpose:

The purpose of the meeting is to gather public input on a US 277 Safety Route Study in Sonora, Texas. The meeting will begin with an open house at 6:30 and a presentation beginning at 7 p.m. Staff will be available to answer questions. Comments must be received on or before Aug. 2, 2019, to be a part of the official record.

Description:

The goal of the study is to identify a safer alternative to existing US 277 by identifying a recommended safety relief route for the City of Sonora and sections of Sutton County. Diverting the through traffic around downtown should ease traffic congestion, enhance mobility, and create safer driving conditions.

Memorandum of Understanding:

The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
