Purpose | As our state’s population and economy continue to grow, TxDOT is working to develop two comprehensive plans—the Statewide Multimodal Transit Plan (SMTP) and the Statewide Active Transportation Plan (SATP)—to help Texans get to where they want to go, meet the needs of our fast-growing state and contribute to a next-generation transportation network. With input from stakeholders and communities across the state, these two draft plans will lay out a coordinated, unified vision for transit and active transportation priorities through 2050 and beyond. The SMTP includes transit such as buses, trains, and on-demand rideshare, while the SATP includes human-powered modes like cycling, walking, using mobility aids, and smaller electric options such as e-scooters. Both aim to identify actions necessary to increase mobility and connectivity, account for anticipated population and economic growth, and provide Texans with more ways to move. TxDOT is seeking public feedback on the development of both plans and is hosting in-person pop-up public engagement events to hear your thoughts. |
