Purpose | The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is proposing to widen US 83 from the existing two-lane highway to a four-lane, divided roadway, from 0.70 mile South of FM 2687 to 0.05 mile North of Lopeno Avenue in Zapata County, Texas. This notice is affording an opportunity to comment as part of the environmental review process for this project. The purpose is to add capacity, improve mobility, and upgrade the Texas Trunk System. |
Description | The proposed project is necessary due to insufficient capacity to accommodate future growth, the absence of controlled access, and noncompliance with Texas Trunk System standards. Although additional right-of-way would be required, no residential or non-residential structures are anticipated to be displaced at this time. Information concerning services and benefits available to affected property owners and information about the tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition and construction can be obtained from the TxDOT district office by calling the Right of Way Supervisor at 956-702-6287. Any environmental documentation or studies, maps and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the proposed project are on file and available for inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Pharr district office, 600 W. Interstate 2, Pharr, Texas, 78577 and 956-702-6102, please call prior to schedule an appointment. |
