Virtual details The virtual public meeting will consist of a pre-recorded video presentation and will include both audio and visual components. The presentation will be posted to this page on Thursday, Dec. 18, by 5 p.m. CT., and will remain online for at least 15 business days. If you do not have internet access, you may call 806-748-4450 at any time to leave recorded questions and request access to project materials during the project development process.

The in-person option will be held in an presentation-first format where attendees will be able to hear a presentation then view meeting materials and ask staff questions at the conclusion of the presentation. Both virtual and in-person meeting materials will be the same.

Purpose The purpose of the public meeting is to gather public input on the proposed improvements to FM 179 roadway, and to allow the public the opportunity to view project related information and provide comments on the proposed improvements. The presentation content will be the same for both in-person and virtual meetings.  
Description

The proposed FM 179 project extends approximately 1.8 miles from US 62 to FM 1585. The improvements consist of reconstructing and widening the existing roadway to add a two-way left turn bay, structure replacement, and the installation of a signal and lighting. 

The proposed project, subject to final design considerations does not require right-of-way or displacements.

Memorandum of Understanding The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable Federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 USC 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated July 17, 2025, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
